The 2009 Model is available in ten different trim levels ranging from S level to TDI trim levels.

The 2009 Volkswagen Jetta falls under the category of family sedan vehicles and with five-passenger capacity, four-door body style.

The S model is offered with the standard I5 2.5 liter engine that can produce 170 hp and achieves fuel economy of 21 miles per gallon on the city streets and 29 miles per gallon on the highway roads.

The standard transmission on all the models is 5-speed manual with overdrive and is provided 6-speed automatic with overdrive as optional. The TDI version comes with a 2.0 liter I4 engine that produces 140 hp and is also available in turbo and diesel engines.

The TDI version models can achieve 30 miles per gallon in the city streets, while they can achieve as much as 41 miles per gallon on the highway roads. The TDI is equipped with the six speed manual transmission along with overdrive and provided the automatic transmission with overdrive as optional.

The 2009 Volkswagen Jetta is a carryover vehicle from its predecessor released in 2008. The new engine model features with a common rail fuel injection system, instead of traditional one, which uses piezo electric fuel injectors.

This feature in the vehicle allows higher pressures, which makes the fuel consumption efficient and also helps in control pollution. All in all, the 2010 Jetta is expected to achieve an exceptional fuel economy of 50 miles per gallon on an average. The model includes all the needed safety features like ABS, anti-skid and anti-braking system, while some of them are provided as optional.
